William J. Firth passed away May 27, 2012. Bill was born on February 13, 1920 to William and Mary Ellen nee O'Hara Firth in Babylon, NY. He was the 3rd of five children.The family moved to Baldwin where Bill graduated from Baldwin High School.One month after Pearl Harbor, he joined the US Army and served as Staff Sergeant, taking part in the Battle of the Bulge and remained in the European theatre until the end of the war.Bill met his future wife, Audrea Phillips, while he was working at Moody's Investment Services in Manhattan. They were married on October 9, 1948. They raised five children in East Northport, NY before moving to Phoenix in 1965. Bill retired as a budget analyst from the AZ Dept of Economic Security in 1986. For the next 26 years, Bill and Audrea traveled the world and made many friends. But Bill's life remained focused on his family and his faith. He and Audrea were founding members of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Phoenix before moving to Peoria in 2008.Bill was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and a great-grandson Gabriel.He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Audrea; four sons Gary (Angela), Dr. William (Anne), Thomas (Susan) and Paul (Joelle); one daughter Deborah (Patrick) Scannell; 10 grandchildren Erik, Nicholas, Matthew, Regina, Brennan, Caitlyn, Peter, Alexandra, William, Branwen and 4 great grandchildren Anahera, Caedan, Savanna and Indigo. He is also survived by Joan Parkinson and many nieces and nephews.A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 9728 W. Palmeras Dr. Sun City, on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 11:00 AM.
