Michael Benjamin Newell, Sr, 56, passed away October 29, 2013. He was born May 17, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Willie and Mary Newell (both deceased). Michael is survived by his loving wife Joyce Marie Newell; his children April, Vanessa, and Michael, Jr., older sister Susiette Newell Payne; brothers Willie Jr. (Constance) and Lawerence (Tara) Newell; mother in law Alberta Amos. He also leaves behind a host of relatives and friends. Michael is preceded in death by his younger sister Sonjinia Newell, and his father in law Elder John W. Amos.

Michael or "Big Mike" (as he is known by many) held a variety of titles. He was a coach, mentor, friend, Son, Brother, Papa, Dad, Husband, and loyal Chicago Bears fan. With these many titles he touched many lives through his generous heart. Michael was a faithful giver in all aspects of his life. He gave on the job by freely sharing his knowledge and a chuckle with his coworkers. He gave to his family by giving his unconditional love and support. He gave to his country by serving in the United States Marine Corps. He gave to his community by serving as a Pop Warner football coach. He gave to Jesus Christ by being a faithful servant. He was a father figure to many children in and out of his neighborhood.

Michael will certainly be missed but never forgotten. The impact he left on this world will live on for generations to come.
