Amado M. Martinez passed away peacefully on Monday, February 10, 2014. He was 96 years old. He was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years, Agustina Betancourt Martinez and his son, Amado Jr. He is survived by his children, Elida, Pedro, Roman and Anna, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was raised on a farm in Santa Rosa, Texas and worked in agriculture all of his life. Amado served in the Army and was a veteran of World War II. Amado and Agustina left Texas and came to the Valley of the Sun in 1949, and in 1956 they settled in Surprise, Arizona. He will always be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and loyal friend. Amado will be dearly missed and we are all better for having known him. The Martinez Family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Hospice of Arizona for the tender care they extended to their father. Funeral services will be held at the Sunwest Funeral Home in El Mirage, AZ on Saturday, February 15, 2014. The viewing will be held at the Chapel at the Sunwest Funeral Home starting at 10am followed by the service at 11am and a reception.
